Meet Dr. Swanzey-Mahon

Dr. Swanzey-Mahon is a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Maryland and the Owner of Potomac Psychological Services, LLC, a private clinical psychology practice in Rockville, Maryland. She is a 2009 graduate of the American School of Professional Psychology, where she earned her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology with a Concentration in Health Psychology. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and a clinical externship in the Baltimore VA Medical Center’s Dementia Clinic. Dr. Swanzey-Mahon holds a BA in Psychology and an undergraduate certificate in gerontology. Her College Honors Thesis was based on original research in the area of Religiosity in Later Life, a topic she later explored for her Clinical Psychology Master’s Thesis

Dr. Swanzey-Mahon values empathic, non-directive, collaborative approaches to working with clients. She believes in helping people build personalized toolboxes of techniques they can use to overcome life's challenges and achieve self-actualization.

A 1999 graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center, Dr. Swanzey-Mahon is licensed to practice law in both Maryland and Washington, DC. Her experience in the field of health law and policy has prepared her to be a zealous mental health advocate. As a Board Member of ContactLifeline, Dr. Swanzey-Mahon offers her combined skills in support of suicide and crisis prevention.
