Caregiver Education & Support

They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”  -Carl W. Buechner

Caring for a loved one with dementia requires unwavering patience, courage, and strength. It also requires nimbleness. As dementia progresses, the caregiver must learn to respond effectively and compassionately to the loved one’s changing needs. Caregivers often experience a very lonely “on-the-job training.” But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Golden Opportunities offers a multi-session workshop on strategies for dementia caregivers. Each session focuses on a special topic, such as fostering patient safety, developing effective communication skills, learning to problem-solve, managing the emotional rollercoaster of caring for a loved one, and — often overlooked — ensuring self-care.

Offered as a small group workshop, you will be given a safe and empathic space to share your personal experiences with others. Listening to the challenges of fellow caregivers will help you to feel supported, understood, and less alone on your caregiving journey.
